About Capital Infinity Research:
Capital Infinity Research created Capital Data Center by accident. We were doing some research trying to find some capital sources for a project we were working on, and noticed a proliferance of vendors all trying to sell their extensive databases and search capabilities. We didn’t have the resources to pay the fees these vendors were asking, so we trudged through the search engines trying to find the right keywords that would match our needs. As we were searching we kept a list of companies that matched our criteria, and then it hit us: what happens when we need the same information on our next funding project? Of course each funding project is unique, and so we would be doing all this work over again. We decided to start keeping track of all the capital sources we came across and building our own database that we could reference for the next project. We added names regardless of whether they fit our current needs or not, and we soon had a database of several hundred names.
This of course just would not do. Although a couple hundred names is a great starting point, it is hardly extensive or encompassing. So after we finished our first project we started just surfing for names in general and compiled a list of over 2,300! Although just about anyone with a idea on how to search can find 2,300 names, what you do with the names is what counts. We didn’t exclude companies unless we found their name somewhere but didn’t find a website / criteria for them. After all, our database is only a search tool and only provides a list of names. We then take the refined list of names and visit their websites to more narrowly define the results. We have recently begun revisiting all capital sources on our list and are inputting them into a subscription database that will soon be available to you. We needed to start from scratch in order to rid ourselves of any legacy ideals, methods, or stale information. Our goal is to create a user-friendly, relevant database that can produce instant printable results for our clients.
Of course there is much more to Capital Infinity Research than our Capital Data Center, such as our Capital Sourcing research services, and consulting services. We solely deal on a customer referral program to ensure the quality of services.
How are your Capital Sourcing research services different than just using normal search engines or other databases?
First – there is more to research than being able to generate a list – like we stated above, anyone can find a list of Private Equity, Venture Capital and Angel Fund capital sources fairly easily. Taking that information and compiling it in a user-friendly interface is how we add value. We were building the Capital Data Center for our internal use and noticed the void that existed between good companies looking for investors and good investors looking for good companies. Our custom Search Engine only includes Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Angel Investors. Our internal database provides us with a quick reference point for investor’s criteria.
Second, one thing that we have always found irritating is the fact that very large data providers can charge such an arm and a leg for data because they are the only game in town. When we first started our database over 2 years ago we knew of about 5 other vendors providing databases. Since then the number has grown to over 20 (and growing). To us, this was a case in point that others felt there was a need for better databases at better prices. What makes Capital Infinity different than the database vendors, is that we provide research services that use the database, we don’t just sell a database. We know the true value is being able to utilize the database & our knowledge of the industry to identify capital sources. We also know what type of data our users are looking for and have begun the process of re-creating our database to provide those results.
The people in need of a Private Equity database are not in competition with us. We provide services to USE the database. We believe a database is only worth what you can get out of it, and believe it takes a professional with this specific knowledge to yield the best results. – That’s Capital Infinity Research!
